Virbac ULTIMUM®: Timely, Targeted, Powerful

ULTIMUM® is Virbac’s latest long-acting horse wormer and boticide gel which contains the active ingredients moxidectin and praziquantel. It’s been designed for easy administration and formulated to last longer than other products on the market.

ULTIMUM® is a broad spectrum gel formula that’s designed to control tapeworm and all important susceptible strains of gastrointestinal roundworms, including adult and encysted stages (DL, LL3, EL4) and benzimidazole-resistant strains of small strongyles, and aids in the control of early encysted stages (EL3), including inhibited larvae. When used as directed, ULTIMUM® is safe in foals over 4 weeks of age and in all breeding stock, including stallions and pregnant mares. Being a gel consistency, ULTIMUM® is highly palatable and makes it less likely for horses to be able to spit the formula out. It’s formulated to treat horses up to 700kg.

• Timely
  ULTIMUM® is recommended for use typically in late autumn or early spring on horses with a suspected large burden of encysted small strongyles (roundworms). It’s also recommended for new horses arriving on a property with an unknown worming history.
• Targeted
  ULTIMUM® is the ideal wormer for young and adult horses with a suspected worm burden or to use in rotation with other Virbac wormers.
• Powerful
  ULTIMUM® contains moxidectin, a powerful and persistent second-generation ‘mectin’. When administered as part of Virbac’s Gold Standard strategic worming program, ULTIMUM® provides horses with effective and sustainable worm control in conjunction with EQUIMAX®, EQUIMAX ELEVATION® and STRATEGY-T®. The Egg Reappearance Period (ERP) for ULTIMUM® is at least 14 weeks, which means that recontamination of the pasture by strongyle eggs is significantly reduced during this period.

  Due to being an oral gel, ULTIMUM is highly palatable and easy to administer.

• Yearling to adult horses: ULTIMUM® is suitable for use in horses with a suspected large burden of encysted small strongyle larvae.
• High shedders: Treatment with ULTIMUM® may be recommended for horses with repeated high faecal egg counts and suspected large burden of small strongyles.
• Quarantined/new horses: ULTIMUM® is recommended for new horses arriving on a property with an unknown worming history. Horses that are below 2 years of age should be given two separate worming products i.e. ULTIMUM® and Strategy-T, but for horses over 2 years of age treat with ULTIMUM® or as recommended by your veterinarian.
