The Ultimate Stain-Removing Trio!

Why do purple products work to make my horse whiter you ask? Purple and yellow are opposite each other on the colour wheel, and because of this, using a purple-coloured product will neutralise (cancel out) those stubborn yellow and brassy tones that often come from staining. Combining purple dye with another product (such as a shampoo or conditioner) will enhance the whitening effects of that product. 

Starting off the trio is the ever-popular Equinade Showsilk Glo-White Shampoo. This bottle of purple goodness is well known and loved across Australia for its ability to clean and remove dirt and grime and neutralise those yellow stains. Equinade recommend always washing first with a good shampoo like Equinade Showsilk Shampoo Concentrate to neutralise the coat and remove any excess dirt and dust. After rinsing, follow up with Glo-White Shampoo and work it into a rich lather. This is your opportunity to really get in there and scrub the tail from top to bottom, as well as the mane. For maximum effect, leave your horse to ‘marinate’ in Glo-White Shampoo for 5-10 minutes before rinsing off.

The newest member of the Glo-White team is Equinade Showsilk Glo-White Conditioner. We recommend always using a good quality conditioner as part of your wash routine. After rinsing all the shampoo off, apply Glo-White Conditioner all over the coat, mane and tail. You can use your fingers to gently comb out any stubborn knots in the mane and tail. Equinade suggest to leave the Glo-White Conditioner on for up to 10 minutes before washing off with fresh water. Containing the same yellow neutralising power as Glo-White Shampoo, Glo-White Conditioner has the added effects of locking in moisture and shine, and protecting the coat, mane and tail from the elements. The mane and tail will be smoother and detangling will be much easier than if you don’t use any conditioner at all. As well as helping to further remove any lingering yellow tones, dirt and dust will be repelled for longer. This means your horse will stay cleaner for longer...winning!

Sometimes despite a really good wash, you may find you have some lingering stains, particularly in those pesky mare tails. Enter Equinade Showsilk Mighty Bright. This product is so simple to use and the effects are outstanding! Designed to be used after shampoo and conditioner, simply dilute Mighty Bright in a bucket of water and dunk the tail straight into the bucket. You can then pour the remaining solution over the mane and rest of the coat. No need to rinse, just leave it in to dry. It really couldn’t be easier to use! Pro tip: keep some of the diluted Mighty Bright solution in a spray bottle for quick application if needed for touch ups at shows and events.
